Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi is one of the world’s most prolifically quoted philosophers and poets. An Anatolian native, Mevlana (as he is called by our Turkish friends; a title meaning, “having to do with the master”) was born in the early 1200s in a Persian speaking home. His poetry and prose are seen as literary masterpieces and his theology has inspired a Sufi sect of Islam that concentrates more on the inner-heart, emotion, and the mystical rotating of the universe, rather than orthodox emphasis on rules and outward purity. He is buried in Konya, Turkey. Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi is reported to have said, The art of knowing is knowing what to ignore.
