Rebecca's 5 senses of İstanbul.

Rebecca’s 5 senses of İstanbul.

Istanbul

Feels like…a crowded city bus; a place where opposites meet, for even opposites go in the same direction for a little while…

Looks like…head-coverings and mini-skirts hand-in-hand, sea birds floating over minarets, a busy mall, so new shoppers aren’t quite sure what to do…

Smells like…discarded furniture left in the rain, smoke from cigarettes and apple-infused pipes, and sometimes like fresh, organic garden fruit brought back from the village…

Tastes like…a Mediterranean buffet-- olives and goat cheese, sesame seeds, fresh bread, powdered sugar, perfumed jams, and we’ve only just finished brunch…

Sounds like…tradition and pop melding into its own unique sound; Would you like some more tea? Sip, sip, sip, clink.
